**Kochi, India:** Popular South Indian actor Bala was arrested on Monday after being booked under the Juvenile Justice Act following accusations of making derogatory remarks against his ex-wife and their child. The complaint was filed by Bala’s ex-wife, a well-known TV singer, at the Kadavanthara police station in Kochi on Saturday.
Bala, known for his successful career in Telugu and Malayalam films, was later granted bail by the Ernakulam Chief Judicial Magistrate Court, but with strict conditions. He has been instructed not to make any public statements about the case or speak to the media.
The actor and his ex-wife, who were married in 2010 and separated in 2019, have been embroiled in public disputes since 2015. The latest incident stems from a video posted on social media by their daughter, alleging that Bala had been tormenting her. Bala has denied the accusations, stating that it was a painful experience for him and he would not argue with his daughter.
Bala, who comes from a prominent film family, has a long and successful career in South Indian cinema, including directing the 2012 Malayalam action film “The Hitlist.” He also underwent a liver transplant surgery last year.
His legal counsel claims the entire episode is a conspiracy and they will proceed according to the law. The case is ongoing.
