**Ramgarh, October 14, 2024:** A major boost to connectivity in Jharkhand, the Indian Railways has launched a weekly direct train service from Gaya Junction in the Hajipur Zone to Mumbai Kalyan Station. The new train, christened ‘Lokmanya Tilak Express’, was welcomed with a grand ceremony at the Baracakanna Station.
Railway officials performed a traditional puja and offered aarti to the train. The train drivers and guards were felicitated with garlands and sweets, before the train was flagged off. The Lokmanya Tilak Express will operate once a week, departing from Gaya on Wednesdays and reaching Mumbai on Fridays. The return journey will begin from Mumbai on Sundays, arriving in Gaya on Mondays.
Dr. Sapna Kumari, a local dignitary, expressed her delight at the launch, saying, “I am fortunate to have been given the opportunity to perform the puja for the Lokmanya Tilak Express. This new train service will be a boon for the people of Baracakanna, connecting them directly to Mumbai.”
The new train is expected to benefit traders and businesses in the region. “This train will be a game-changer for the entire district,” said AEN Paramanand Prasad, highlighting the significance of connecting Baracakanna to the Mumbai metropolis.
Rajhans Singh, the Divisional Railway Operating Manager, reiterated the Indian Railways’ commitment to providing better facilities for passengers. He stated that this direct train service to Mumbai will be a major convenience for residents of Ramgarh and nearby areas, as they previously had to rely on indirect routes via Ranchi or Baracakanna.
The Lokmanya Tilak Superfast Express will have stops at various stations in Jharkhand, including Kodarma, Hazaribagh Town, Baracakanna, BIT Mesra, Ranchi, and Hatia. It will also make stops at Rourkela, Jharsuguda, Raigarh, Bilaspur, Raipur, Durg, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Badnera, Akola, Bhusawal, Jalgaon, Nashik, and Kalyan Station.
The train, with a total of 22 coaches including 1st AC, 2nd AC, 3rd AC, sleeper, and general compartments, will depart from Gaya Junction on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM, reaching Mumbai Lokmanya Terminal Junction Station on Friday at 5:50 AM. The return journey will depart from Mumbai at 1:15 PM on Sundays, arriving at Gaya Junction Station at 10:50 PM.
The inauguration of the Lokmanya Tilak Express marks a significant milestone in improving connectivity in Jharkhand and offers a direct, convenient, and efficient travel option for people in the region.
