Renowned actor Atul Parchure, known for his comedic roles, has passed away at the age of 57. Parchure, who had been battling cancer, breathed his last on October 14, 2024. He had been hospitalized for five days due to a liver tumor.
Parchure is survived by his wife, Sonia Parchure, who was a strong pillar of support throughout his illness. Sonia, a former actress, had appeared in the Marathi film “Akka” which received critical acclaim. She later dedicated her time to supporting her husband’s career.
In an interview with India Times, Atul had attributed the success of his marriage to Sonia’s unwavering support. He shared how she adjusted to a modest lifestyle after their marriage, moving from a bungalow to a two-bedroom apartment. He praised her for never complaining and expressed his desire to buy her a house.
Despite being from the same field, Sonia chose to focus on her passion for dance after their marriage. She established her own Kathak academy, “Guru of Sharayu Nritya Kalamandir”, and trained numerous dancers. Sonia is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer and has also choreographed for various Marathi films, reality shows, and events.
Parchure’s passing has left a void in the entertainment industry. His contributions to Marathi theatre and cinema will be remembered for years to come. His family and friends are grieving his loss.
