Captain Harmanpreet Kaur’s valiant half-century was not enough as Australia secured their place in the semi-finals with a convincing victory. India’s fate now rests in the hands of Pakistan, who must defeat New Zealand in their final group match on Monday.
Australia topped Group A with 8 points from 4 matches, while India remained on 4 points with two losses to Australia and New Zealand.
If Pakistan manage to overcome New Zealand, India will qualify for the semi-finals despite their loss to Australia. However, a Pakistan win would create a three-way tie on 4 points, with India likely to advance due to their superior net run rate.
A win for Pakistan, however, will not be easy. They have only managed two wins in their 11 T20 International matches against New Zealand.
