**New Delhi:** Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Sunday questioned the efficacy of RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat’s call for unity, delivered during the organization’s centenary celebrations. In his Vijayadashmi message, Bhagwat urged the “Hindu society” to transcend caste divisions and embrace Dalits and marginalized communities.
Sibal, in a post on X, pointedly asked, “Who is listening? Modi? Others?” He highlighted Bhagwat’s call for celebrating all festivals together and fostering friendships across diverse languages, cultures, and cuisines.
This comes as Bhagwat also cautioned against a “deep state” allegedly trying to fragment the nation along caste and community lines, accusing certain political parties of supporting this agenda for their own gain. He stressed the importance of inclusivity in public spaces, including temples, water facilities, and crematoriums.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared Bhagwat’s address on X, congratulating the RSS on reaching its centenary year. He lauded the organization’s dedication to the nation and praised their commitment to a “Developed India.”
Bhagwat, in his speech, also underscored India’s growing strength and respect on the global stage. However, he warned of external forces seeking to destabilize the country, describing these efforts as “sinister conspiracies.”
Sibal’s retort adds a layer of political tension to the RSS’s centenary celebrations, highlighting the ongoing debate over the organization’s role in Indian society and its impact on national unity.
