**COLOMBO, SRI LANKA** – The West Indies secured a thrilling four-wicket victory over Sri Lanka in the first T20I of the series, chasing down a target of 180 with just one ball to spare.

Sri Lanka, batting first, were led by Charith Asalanka’s impressive 59 off 35 balls and Kamindu Mendis’s 51 off 40. However, wickets fell regularly, and they were eventually bowled out for 179 in 20 overs. Romario Shepherd was the pick of the West Indies bowlers, taking 4-39.

The West Indies chase began with explosive intent. Brandon King (63 off 33) and Evin Lewis (50 off 28) powered the Caribbean side to a strong start. Though wickets fell at regular intervals, a crucial 16-run knock by Roston Chase and Rovman Powell’s quickfire 13, including a crucial boundary off the last ball, steered West Indies to victory.

Matheesha Pathirana was the pick of the Sri Lankan bowlers, taking 2-27.
