Mon Oct 14 07:41:23 UTC 2024: ## Pune Fuel Dealers to Halt Tanker Services from October 15th in Protest of Unfair Practices and Theft

**Pune, India – October 10, 2024** – A major disruption to fuel supply in Pune is looming as over 900 petrol dealers and transporters plan an indefinite strike beginning October 15th. The strike, announced by the Pune Petrol Dealers Association, is a response to ongoing issues with oil companies, including unfair contract terms and rampant theft during fuel transportation.

The association, which now includes support from over 500 dealers in Satara, has accused oil companies of ignoring their repeated pleas to address the problems. They claim the current contracts are “unworkable” and contribute to the theft issue.

“We have raised our concerns with the oil companies and authorities multiple times, but nothing has been done,” said Dhruv Ruparel of the Pune Petrol Dealers Association. “We will not send our tankers to terminals for fuel loading until our demands are met.”

The dealers are demanding:

* **Cancellation of current contracts:** They argue the current agreements are riddled with unfair clauses and contribute to the theft problem.
* **Investigation and suspension of oil company officers:** The association believes that some officers are involved in the theft issues and demand an investigation and suspension of those implicated.

To mitigate potential disruptions for the public, the association has informed the Ministry of Petroleum, local authorities, and oil companies of their planned protest. However, unless their demands are met, the strike will likely lead to fuel shortages in Pune and surrounding areas.
