**New York, NY** – Adam Abeshouse, a renowned classical music producer with a career spanning over 30 years, passed away on Thursday at his home in Westchester, New York. He was 63.
Abeshouse, a three-time Grammy Award winner, including Classical Producer of the Year in 1999, produced hundreds of recordings with some of the biggest names in classical music. He was diagnosed with bile duct cancer earlier this year and the disease spread rapidly.
Known for his meticulous attention to detail and his deep understanding of musicians, Abeshouse inspired great love and loyalty among those he worked with. Shortly before his passing, a group of his close collaborators, including Joshua Bell, Jeremy Denk, and Lara Downes, organized a private concert at his home studio in his honor.
“Adam has a combination of exactitude and patience,” said Denk, a MacArthur “genius grant” winning pianist. “He’s also pretty interested in the individual character of each musician — what they’re trying to say, and what they’re after, what their dreams and goals in life are in a certain way.”
Abeshouse, himself a violinist who began performing in the third grade, founded the Classical Recording Foundation in 2002. The foundation’s mission is to support artists in recording music that they are passionate about, even if it may not have commercial appeal. Abeshouse believed that recordings were “just as important an art form as live performance.”
His legacy will live on through the countless recordings he produced, which will continue to inspire generations of music lovers. The classical music world mourns the loss of this talented artist and dedicated producer.
