Hyderabad, India – India’s T20I dominance continued on Saturday as they secured a clean sweep over Bangladesh, winning the final match by a resounding 133 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

Sanju Samson emerged as the star of the show, smashing a blistering 47-ball 111 to become the first Indian wicketkeeper-batter to score a century in the format. The Kerala-based cricketer’s knock, featuring five sixes in a single over, also saw him become the second-fastest Indian to achieve this milestone.

His blistering innings, combined with a 173-run partnership with captain Suryakumar Yadav, propelled India to a record-breaking T20I score of 297/6. The bowlers then restricted Bangladesh to a paltry 164/7.

Samson’s performance drew jubilant celebrations from his teammates, with Hardik Pandya even falling to the ground laughing and Suryakumar and Arshdeep Singh cheering the loudest.

During the post-match presentation, Samson revealed the positive impact of the Indian leadership group’s unwavering support. “The dressing room and the leadership group keep telling me, ‘I know what type of talent you have and we back you no matter what,'” said Samson, highlighting their support despite his struggles in the Sri Lanka series.

This victory marks another clean sweep for the Suryakumar Yadav-led side under coach Gautam Gambhir, solidifying their position as a dominant force in the T20I format. Samson’s performance not only earns him the Player of the Match award but also solidifies his position in the team, proving his ability to deliver on the big stage.
