Mon Oct 14 14:23:04 UTC 2024: ## Kannada Superstar Darshan’s Bail Denied in Murder Case

**Bengaluru, October 14:** A Bengaluru court on Monday dismissed the bail petitions of Kannada superstar Darshan and his partner Pavithra Gowda in connection with the murder case of Renukaswamy, a Darshan fan. The court also denied bail to two other accused, Nagaraj and Laxman.

Darshan and Pavithra Gowda, along with 15 others, were arrested on June 11 for the alleged kidnapping and murder of Renukaswamy. The victim had allegedly sent derogatory messages to Pavithra Gowda.

While bail was granted to two other accused, Ravishankar and Deepak, the court reserved its decision on the bail petitions of Pradosh S Rao, Vinay, and Jagadish until October 16.

Darshan and Pavithra Gowda will now have to appeal their bail plea to the High Court. Sources close to Darshan indicated that a petition will be filed on Tuesday.

Darshan, who was initially held at the Bengaluru Central Prison, was later transferred to the Ballary prison after photos surfaced showing him receiving “royal treatment” in Bengaluru. He is facing three FIRs in connection with the case.

The case attracted significant media attention, with supporters and fans gathering outside the Ballary prison hoping to catch a glimpse of the actor. The police erected barricades to manage the crowd.

The police submitted a 3,991-page charge sheet in September, alleging that Darshan confessed to kicking Renukaswamy in the chest. The prosecution argued that the incident was a “Rakta Charitra” (bloody saga) and that Darshan was aware of the conspiracy to kidnap Renukaswamy.

Darshan’s lawyer, C.V. Nagesh, contested the charges as planted and termed the investigation a “classic failure.” He highlighted the alleged delay in conducting the postmortem and recording eyewitness statements.

While Nagesh argued for Darshan’s acquittal, the prosecution maintained that the bail should be denied, highlighting the seriousness of the charges and Darshan’s alleged confession.
