Sun Oct 13 18:30:00 UTC 2024: ## 49ers Fined $100,000 for Inactive Player’s Sideline Scuffle
**SANTA CLARA, Calif.** – The San Francisco 49ers have been fined $100,000 by the NFL for an incident during their game against the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday. The incident involved inactive linebacker Dre Greenlaw shoving Cardinals tight end Trey McBride after a sideline scuffle between McBride and 49ers cornerback Charvarius Ward.
The altercation began when McBride blocked Ward into the 49ers’ bench area, with Ward retaliating by grabbing McBride’s facemask. Greenlaw, who is currently on the physically unable to perform list, then intervened by shoving McBride away from Ward.
While no penalties were called during the game, all three players were subsequently fined. McBride received a $9,545 fine for unnecessary roughness, Ward was penalized $11,255 for the facemask infraction, and Greenlaw was fined $14,069 for unnecessary roughness.
The 49ers, however, were fined as an organization for violating a rule that prohibits inactive players from engaging in unnecessary contact with opposing players. The team was deemed responsible for Greenlaw’s actions, despite him being on the sideline and not actively participating in the game.
