**Amaravati:** The Andhra Pradesh government has announced that Valmiki Jayanti will be celebrated as a state festival on January 17th this year. This decision was made by the state’s BC, EWS, Handloom, and Textile Minister, S. Savita, following directions from Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
The celebrations will be held at all district headquarters under the leadership of respective collectors. The state-level celebrations will take place in Anantapur, with elaborate arrangements already underway.
Minister Savita emphasized the need for joyful and grand celebrations in honor of Valmiki’s legacy. She also instructed the BC Welfare Department Secretary, Pola Bhaskar, to issue orders to all collectors for the effective implementation of the celebrations.
The government has taken this step to formally recognize Valmiki’s contribution and promote his teachings within the state. The celebration of Valmiki Jayanti as a state festival reflects the government’s commitment to inclusivity and cultural awareness.
