**Mumbai:** The murder of NCP leader Baba Siddiqui, who was shot dead late Saturday night in Mumbai, has taken a shocking turn as police have revealed that the main shooter, Shiva Kumar, is on the run.
According to police sources, Shiva Kumar fired six rounds at Siddiqui, who was accompanied by three security personnel, none of whom were able to prevent the attack. Another worker sustained a gunshot wound in the leg.
The investigation has revealed that the assailants planned to use pepper spray on Siddiqui before resorting to firearms. However, Shiva Kumar fired before the pepper spray could be used as it was in the possession of Dharamraj Kashyap, who has been apprehended by the police.
Two other suspects, Gurmel Singh and Mohammed Jashin Akhtar, are still at large. Police have formed 10 teams to apprehend the fugitives.
**Two Pistols, 28 Cartridges Recovered:**
During the press conference, Mumbai DCP Datta Nalawade disclosed that two pistols and 28 cartridges were recovered from the arrested suspects. While the involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang is being investigated, DCP Nalawade confirmed that Siddiqui did not have any special security arrangements, only three police personnel for his protection.
The Mumbai Crime Branch has deployed 15 teams to investigate the case in various states across India.

The court has remanded Gurmel Singh to police custody until October 21st. A bone ossification test will be conducted to determine the actual age of Dharamraj Kashyap, who initially claimed to be a minor.
A Facebook account under the name Shibu Lonkar has claimed responsibility for the murder shortly after the incident, further complicating the case.
**Background:**
Baba Siddiqui was shot multiple times in the chest and abdomen while visiting his son’s office in Bandra East. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital but succumbed to his injuries.
