Mon Oct 14 15:41:16 UTC 2024: ## Families of Trainee SIs Protest Against Cancellation of 2021 SI Recruitment Exam in Rajasthan

**Jaipur, October 13 (HS):** Families of trainee Sub-Inspectors (SIs) staged a protest at the Shaheed Smarak on Sunday demanding the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) not to cancel the 2021 SI recruitment examination. The protesters demanded strict action against those who passed the exam fraudulently and are currently undergoing training. They also demanded a meeting with the Chief Minister, expressing their concern over the potential injustice to innocent candidates.

The families argue that innocent candidates who have been diligently training for over a year should not be penalized for the actions of a few. They cite the Supreme Court’s decision in the NEET exam case, where only the candidates who cheated were disqualified, not the entire selection process. They urge the Special Operations Group (SOG) to complete their investigation, apprehend the fraudulent candidates, and allow those who deserve the positions to fill them.

A young woman at the protest said her brother has been training for a year, working hard, and unable to even go home for festivals. She questioned the rationale behind punishing the innocent for a paper leak. The trainee SIs emphasize that while some may have joined fraudulently, it would be unfair to punish all trainees. They highlight their dedication and years of effort invested in achieving this position.

The future of the 95 percent of honest trainees hangs in the balance if the exam is cancelled. The 859 candidates selected are undergoing training at three centers in Rajasthan. While 50 trainee SIs have been arrested, the families argue that this constitutes only five percent of the selected candidates and cancelling the exam would unfairly punish the remaining 95 percent.

The Rajasthan government has formed a committee of six ministers to decide on the future of the exam. The families are using social organizations to bring their concerns to the government’s attention.
