Sun Oct 13 05:16:09 UTC 2024: ## RSS Chief Calls for Social Harmony, Warns of ‘Deep State’ Threats
**Nagpur, India** – In his annual Vijayadashmi speech, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat emphasized the importance of social harmony and mutual goodwill among different sections of society, stating that this can be achieved by taking individual and family-level initiatives to foster amity.
Bhagwat acknowledged the progress made by India but cautioned against threats posed by elements seeking to disrupt the country’s forward march. He pointed to societal challenges like the drug menace and the exposure of children and youth to inappropriate content on OTT platforms. He also warned of the dangers of “Deep State”, “Wokeism” and “Cultural Marxists” who aim to dismantle cultural traditions by capturing institutions like education systems, media, and intellectual discourse.
Bhagwat further expressed concerns over the rise of identity-based groups and the manipulation of societal fault lines to create conflict and unrest. He cited the example of Bangladesh, where Hindu unity was a response to atrocities against the community, highlighting the importance of safeguarding all minorities from violence.
The RSS chief also addressed the issue of women’s safety, condemning the RG Kar Hospital rape-murder case in Kolkata and calling for vigilance to prevent such incidents. He criticized the alleged nexus between crime and politics and urged for the revival of traditional values.
Bhagwat reiterated the importance of unity among Hindus, emphasizing that India’s national life is rooted in cultural unity and noble values. He underscored the country’s achievements in technology, education, and the global acceptance of India’s philosophies and traditions.
While acknowledging the challenges facing India, Bhagwat expressed optimism about the country’s progress, citing the peaceful conduct of elections and the dedication of citizens across various sectors. He warned against attempts to destabilize the country and urged vigilance against sinister conspiracies.
**Opposition leaders reacted strongly to Bhagwat’s remarks**, with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge accusing the RSS of supporting a party that promotes disunity. Other leaders from the Congress and Trinamool Congress criticized Bhagwat for his comments on the RG Kar case and for not addressing violence against women in BJP-ruled states. Shiv Sena leader Manisha Kayande echoed Bhagwat’s call for Hindu unity, citing the similar stance taken by Balasaheb Thackeray.
Bhagwat concluded his speech by advocating for environmental protection, urging individuals to conserve water, reduce plastic use, and promote greenery. He stressed the importance of addressing the issue of inappropriate content on OTT platforms, particularly the negative impact on children and youth. He also highlighted the need to combat drug addiction and revive values that foster virtuousness in society.
