Sun Oct 13 14:04:21 UTC 2024: ## Rajapaksa and Vandersay Return to Sri Lankan T20I Squad for West Indies Series
**Colombo, Sri Lanka:** Sri Lanka has announced a revamped T20I squad for the upcoming series against the West Indies, featuring the return of hard-hitting batter Bhanuka Rajapaksa and legspinner Jeffrey Vandersay. The three-match series is scheduled to take place at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium on October 13, 15, and 17.
Rajapaksa, last seen in Sri Lankan colors in this format in January 2023, returns after a successful stint with the St Lucia Kings in the recent Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He impressed with a top score of 68* in a crucial chase against the St Kitts & Nevis Patriots. Prior to that, Rajapaksa contributed significantly to the Galle Marvels’ run to the final of the Lanka Premier League.
Vandersay, whose last T20I appearance was in February 2022, has been recalled after showcasing impressive form in Sri Lanka’s recent ODI series against India. The 34-year-old claimed impressive figures of 6 for 33 and 2 for 34 in the two ODIs.
Notable omissions from the squad that faced India in the last T20I series include former captain Dasun Shanaka, Dilshan Madushanka, and Dushmantha Chameera.
Sri Lanka will be looking to turn the tables on the West Indies after losing the previous T20I series against India at home. The return of Rajapaksa and Vandersay adds valuable experience and firepower to the squad, setting the stage for an exciting series between the two teams.
