Sat Oct 12 19:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Portugal Dominates Poland in Friendly Match, But Late Goal Leaves Bitter Taste

**Warsaw, Poland -** Portugal showcased their dominance in the first half of their friendly match against Poland, ultimately securing a 3-1 victory. The opening goal, a result of meticulous teamwork, particularly impressed midfielder Rúben Neves. “The first goal was excellent. We worked on that move extensively,” he shared with Sport TV. “We felt fantastic during the game, we’re very dangerous with the ball, it’s incredibly difficult to stop us when we’re playing like this, thanks to the work we’ve done with the manager. Our focus is on keeping possession as much as possible, and we’ve been able to do that.”

Neves also praised the team’s overall performance. “We had a great game; we didn’t want to concede and we discussed that at halftime. We were 2-0 up and wanted to get another goal. We conceded, but we were playing against a good team on their home ground and we knew it would be difficult, but overall, we had an excellent game. We controlled the ball very well and perhaps in the second half we could have had a little more patience. We had many chances to score the third goal, it finally came in the end, an own goal, but overall, it was a good goal.”

Despite the late Polish goal, Portugal currently leads Group A with nine points, making qualification for the next round highly likely. However, Neves emphasized that the team is not focusing on the standings. “We’re not looking much at the standings, we’re thinking game by game. You could see how well we prepared for this match. Now, we have to focus on recovery. We travel tomorrow and in these two days, a very short time frame, we need to prepare for the game in Scotland.”
