**Mumbai, October 12, 2023:** Baba Siddiqui, a prominent NCP leader and former Maharashtra minister, was shot dead in Mumbai on Saturday night. He was attacked outside his son’s office in Kher Wadi, Bandra, where he was shot thrice with a 9.9mm pistol. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital but was declared dead at 11.27 pm.

According to reports, Siddiqui was leaving his office around 9.30 pm when three assailants emerged from a car, their faces masked, and fired six rounds from two pistols. Two bullets hit Siddiqui in the stomach and one in the chest. One bullet also struck a person accompanying him in the leg, while two hit Siddiqui’s car.

The incident occurred under the cover of darkness with no CCTV footage available. While Siddiqui’s car was bulletproof, the attackers allegedly used advanced pistols that penetrated the bulletproof glass. Siddiqui had received Y-level security following a death threat 15 days ago, but he was not accompanied by a constable at the time of the attack.

Police have registered a case and handed it over to the Crime Branch. Encounter specialist Daya Nayak is investigating the case. Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has stated that two accused have been apprehended, one from Uttar Pradesh and the other from Haryana, while the third suspect remains at large.
