Sun Oct 13 06:40:00 UTC 2024: ## Tourists Trapped in Colorado Mine for Hours, Thankfully Safe
**Cripple Creek, CO** – A group of tourists, including Rhonda Pulse from Missouri, were trapped 1,000 feet underground in the Mollie Kathleen Mine for over eight hours on Thursday. The group, including a tour guide, had entered the mine via an elevator around 10:30 a.m. but the elevator failed to return, leaving them stranded.
Despite the lengthy ordeal, Pulse emphasized the calm and positive attitude of the group. “We were inconvenienced and uncomfortable, but we were never panicked or afraid,” she stated. “We were blissfully unaware.”
Pulse expressed gratitude for the swift and efficient response from the Teller County Sheriff’s Department, first responders, and other agencies involved in the rescue effort. “We were so grateful for everyone who made sure we were safe,” Pulse said.
The mine remains closed pending an investigation by OSHA to determine the cause of the elevator malfunction. The investigation is ongoing.
