Sun Oct 13 12:01:41 UTC 2024: ## Sri Lanka Unveils T20I Squad for West Indies Series, Notable Absences Emerge
Colombo, October 10, 2023 – Sri Lanka Cricket has announced their T20I squad for the upcoming series against the West Indies, revealing some key changes from the team that defeated India in July.
Former captain Dasun Shanaka and pacer Dushmantha Chameera are notable absentees from the 17-member squad. In their place, middle-order batsman Bhanuka Rajapaksa has been recalled, making his first appearance since January 2023.
Charith Asalanka will lead the side, with Wanindu Hasaranga, who relinquished captaincy after the T20 World Cup, spearheading a strong spin attack alongside Maheesh Theekshana, Jeffrey Vandersay, and Dunith Wellalage. Vandersay, in particular, is set to make his T20I return after a two-year absence, following his impressive ODI performance against India in August.
The three-match series is scheduled to commence on October 13th in Dambulla, with the remaining matches to be played on October 15th and 17th.
