Sat Oct 12 18:20:00 UTC 2024: ## NCP Leader Baba Siddique Shot Dead in Mumbai
**Mumbai:** Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former minister, Baba Siddique, was shot dead by unidentified assailants in the Khernar area of Vandre East, Mumbai, on Saturday night.
According to reports, three to four unidentified assailants opened fire on Siddique, with at least one bullet striking his chest. He was rushed to Lilavati Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries before reaching the medical facility.
Sources suggest that Siddique had received death threats in the past fifteen days. These threats were reportedly linked to a dispute over an Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project.
The shooting took place after Siddique attended a public event in Nirmal Nagar. As fireworks were being set off in celebration of his arrival, the attackers opened fire, hitting him with three bullets.
Two suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. The shooting took place near the office of Siddique’s son, MLA Zishan Siddique. Police are currently reviewing CCTV footage to investigate the incident.
Baba Siddique, a former member of the Congress party, had recently joined the NCP under the leadership of Ajit Pawar.
