**Hyderabad:** The annual ‘Alay Bhalay’ festival, held at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds in Hyderabad, witnessed a grand celebration of Telangana culture and tradition. This year, the event was presided over by Governor of Haryana, Bandaru Dattatreya, with his daughter, Bandaru Vijayalakshmi, serving as the chairperson.
The festival commenced with a traditional welcome, featuring vibrant folk dances, drum beats, and tribal performances, all orchestrated by Governor Dattatreya. The event drew a multitude of dignitaries, including former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Minister Kishan Reddy, MP Lakshman, Governors of Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, and Meghalaya, and prominent personalities like Kodandaram and Konda Vishweshwar Reddy.
A highlight of the event was the elaborate feast prepared for the guests. Over 60 varieties of delectable Telangana dishes were on offer, showcasing the rich culinary heritage of the region. The menu included a selection of mouth-watering delicacies such as chicken and mutton biryani, fish curry, millet dishes, traditional garalu (pancakes), jonna rotte (sorghum bread), and other diverse dishes.
The ‘Alay Bhalay’ festival, held every year after Dussehra, is known for its unique blend of tradition, culture, and vibrant entertainment, making it a cherished event in the city’s calendar.
