Fri Oct 11 20:12:00 UTC 2024: ## Air India Express Flight Makes Precautionary Landing After Technical Issue

**Tiruchirappalli, India:** An Air India Express flight bound for Sharjah, UAE, safely landed at Tiruchirappalli airport on Friday evening after experiencing a technical issue mid-air. The aircraft, flight IX613, circled over the airport for over an hour to burn off excess fuel before making a precautionary landing.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) monitored the situation closely. Initial reports suggested a potential issue with the landing gear, prompting the airport to be placed on high alert. However, an Air India Express spokesperson clarified that no emergency was declared by the crew.

The spokesperson explained that the aircraft circled the airspace as a precaution to reduce fuel and weight before landing due to runway length considerations. After reporting a technical snag, the aircraft circled multiple times as an abundant precaution before making a safe landing. The cause of the snag will be investigated, and an alternative aircraft is being arranged for the passengers to continue their journey.

Local authorities, including ambulances and rescue teams, were kept on standby at the airport as a precautionary measure. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin expressed relief over the safe landing and commended the emergency response implemented by officials.

Flight tracking website flightradar24.com showed the aircraft looping over Tiruchirappalli as it awaited clearance to land. The incident highlights the importance of safety protocols in aviation, with crew and ground personnel working together to ensure a successful landing despite technical challenges.
