Sat Oct 12 15:00:00 UTC 2024: ## Philly’s Finest Team Up: “Abbott Elementary” and “It’s Always Sunny” Crossover Confirmed

Fans of both “Abbott Elementary” and “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” are in for a treat, as the two beloved shows will be crossing over this season.

The news was confirmed by “It’s Always Sunny” star Rob McElhenney on social media, who posted photos of himself, co-star Charlie Day, and “Abbott Elementary” creator Quinta Brunson on the set of the ABC sitcom.

The photos show the actors sporting sunglasses and posing in front of the school’s exterior, with McElhenney even teasing the crossover with the caption “Oh. Hello.”

A second image reveals a larger group including Danny DeVito from “It’s Always Sunny,” and “Abbott Elementary” actors Tyler James Williams and William Stanford Davis.

This collaboration has been hinted at for some time, with McElhenney previously suggesting it made sense due to both shows being set in Philadelphia. Brunson also teased a crossover event at Comic-Con earlier this year, though she remained tight-lipped on the details.

The crossover will be a special treat for fans who enjoy the comedic synergy between the two shows, both known for their hilarious and often irreverent portrayals of Philadelphia life.

“Those things are what reinvigorate TV viewers,” said Brunson, referencing her love of Disney Channel crossovers. “I just live for those kind of magic moments, and I’m excited to be able to bring one to TV with Abbott.”

The crossover episode is set to air this season, with “Abbott Elementary” returning on October 9th and “It’s Always Sunny” already underway with its 16th season. This exciting collaboration is sure to bring a fresh dose of laughter and unexpected pairings to viewers.
