Hyderabad, October 12: Suryakumar Yadav continued his blistering form, becoming the second-fastest Indian batter to reach the 2500-run mark in T20 Internationals during India’s third and final T20I against Bangladesh at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Yadav achieved the milestone in his 71st innings, surpassing the previous record held by India’s own Virat Kohli (68 innings). While Babar Azam of Pakistan remains the fastest to the landmark (62 innings), Yadav’s accomplishment is particularly remarkable given his relatively short time in the format – he only debuted in March 2021.
Despite a relatively quiet series before the Hyderabad match, Yadav exploded with a fiery half-century in the final T20I. He reached the landmark in just three years and 212 days, beating Babar Azam’s record of five years and 65 days.
The 34-year-old, widely considered one of the best batsmen in the world, displayed his trademark power and flair, taking just 23 balls to reach his fifty. He provided a much-needed boost to the Indian innings, solidifying his status as a key player in India’s T20I plans.
