Fri Oct 11 18:58:27 UTC 2024: ## Tesla’s We, Robot Event Showcases Optimus and the Cybercab

**Austin, TX -** Tesla CEO Elon Musk stole the show at the company’s “We, Robot” event last night, unveiling the latest advancements in both its humanoid robot, Optimus, and its ambitious autonomous vehicle, the Cybercab.

Musk declared that Optimus, now in its Gen 2 iteration, is “the most significant product ever created.” The robot, which can now walk faster, perform more complex hand movements, and even fold shirts, is poised to become a ubiquitous presence in everyday life. “The Optimus will walk amongst you,” Musk proclaimed. “You’ll be able to walk right up to them, and they will serve drinks.”

He envisions Optimus serving as a personal assistant, capable of walking dogs, babysitting, mowing lawns, and performing various other tasks. While still in development, the robot is expected to be commercially available at a price between $20,000 and $30,000.

The event also saw Musk showcase the Cybercab, a fully autonomous vehicle with no steering wheel or pedals. “It will be cheaper than mass transit,” he stated, describing it as “unsupervised, full self-driving” capable. Musk announced that production of the Cybercab is slated to begin in 2026, with Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles featuring unsupervised self-driving capabilities in Texas and California as early as next year.

Musk’s presentation highlighted Tesla’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of robotics and artificial intelligence. The event served as a glimpse into a future where robots and autonomous vehicles play an integral role in our daily lives.
