**Trichy:** A tense situation unfolded at Trichy Airport on Friday evening as an Air India Express flight bound for Sharjah had to make an emergency return due to a technical malfunction. The flight, carrying 141 passengers, took off at around 5:45 PM, but shortly after takeoff, the pilot detected a problem with the hydraulic system.
The pilot immediately contacted authorities and requested permission for an emergency landing. The aircraft circled over Trichy for over two and a half hours while emergency procedures were put in place at the airport. Fire and ambulance services were on standby, and fuel was jettisoned from the plane to reduce its weight for a safe landing.
Finally, at 8:10 PM, the flight landed safely back in Trichy. All passengers were reported to be safe. Authorities confirmed that the landing gear functioned properly, allowing for a normal landing procedure.
