Fri Oct 11 16:26:47 UTC 2024: ## Air India Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Trichy Airport After Hydraulic Failure
**Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu:** An Air India Express flight from Trichy to Sharjah experienced a hydraulic failure mid-air, forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing back at the Tiruchirappalli International Airport. The aircraft, flight number IX 613, carrying 144 passengers and crew, landed safely after a two-hour delay.
The incident occurred after the aircraft’s landing gear malfunctioned. To ensure a safe landing, the pilot took precautionary measures and circled the airspace for two hours to deplete the fuel load, reducing the risk of a potential fire during landing.
The airport authorities were alerted and placed on high alert. Over 20 ambulances and fire tenders were stationed at the airport in anticipation of a potential belly landing. Thankfully, the pilot successfully landed the aircraft, with no injuries reported among the passengers or crew.
The Director-General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is currently investigating the incident to determine the cause of the hydraulic failure.
This incident highlights the importance of preparedness and quick action by pilots and air traffic control in dealing with emergencies. It also underscores the need for regular maintenance and safety checks on aircraft.
