**Mumbai, India:** Rajkummar Rao and Tripti Dimri star in the new comedy “Vicky Vidya Ka Voh Wala Video,” directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa, known for his “Dream Girl” films. However, while the film attempts to blend raunchy humor with family drama, it falls short of expectations.
The plot revolves around a lost video recorded by the newly married couple on their wedding night. This sets off a chain of events as the film explores the couple’s journey and the search for the missing footage.
While the cast boasts talented actors like Rao, Dimri, Vijay Raaz, Mallika Sherawat, and Archana Puran Singh, the writing and jokes unfortunately fall flat. The film relies on tired tropes and predictable gags that fail to elicit genuine laughter. The first half is particularly sluggish, with a reliance on Rao’s “everyman” charm and Dimri’s burgeoning acting talent, but even these elements are unable to salvage the weak material.
The film does attempt to inject some energy in the latter half with the introduction of thieves and con artists, but even this feels forced and contrived. The “Stree” reference in the climax feels like a desperate attempt to salvage the film’s humor, but ultimately fails.
“Vicky Vidya Ka Voh Wala Video” is a disappointing outing for the cast and director. While the intention may have been to create a light-hearted comedy, the execution simply doesn’t deliver. The result is a film that is more cringeworthy than funny, and ultimately leaves the audience feeling disappointed.
