Filmmaker Karan Johar, along with director Ayan Mukerji, received the prestigious National Film Award for Best Film in the AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, and Comic) category for their blockbuster film “Brahmastra Part One: Shiva” at the 70th National Film Awards ceremony held on Tuesday evening.

Johar, who also produced the film under his banner Dharma Productions, shared his joy and gratitude on social media, posting photos from the ceremony and expressing his appreciation for the constant support of the film fraternity and the audience.

“Every time I step onto this stage, it’s always a different feeling of magic,” he wrote in a heartfelt caption, adding, “But there’s one feeling that always remains – gratitude.” He further dedicated the award to the team, who “made the magic happen.”

This marks Johar’s third National Film Award win, and he celebrated the occasion by highlighting the 44th anniversary of Dharma Productions.

“Brahmastra” has been lauded for its grand visual effects and captivating storyline. The film follows the journey of Shiva (Ranbir Kapoor), a DJ who discovers his connection to fire and the ancient weapon Brahmastra, capable of immense destruction. It features a star-studded cast, including Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni.

Speaking to ANI before the ceremony, Johar expressed his excitement about the film’s recognition, stating, “We are very excited that Brahmastra is getting so many honours and awards. We are here to receive it very humbly. We are very proud. Indian cinema has a very big role on the global map of cinema.”

The National Film Award win further solidifies “Brahmastra’s” success and marks a significant milestone for Indian cinema. This award, coupled with the film’s box office performance, signifies the audience’s appreciation for its ambitious vision and captivating storytelling.
