Thu Oct 10 23:42:13 UTC 2024: ## Delhi CM Atishi Accuses BJP of “Capturing” Official Residence, PWD Completes Inventory

**New Delhi:** A day after Chief Minister Atishi was asked to vacate the Civil Lines bungalow previously occupied by former CM Arvind Kejriwal, the AAP leader accused the BJP of “capturing” the residence. The Public Works Department (PWD) has sealed the premises and completed an inventory of the property, with a decision on the bungalow’s future allocation pending.

Atishi, who has been working out of her official residence on Mathura Road amidst a pile of packed boxes, claims the BJP is “happy to take over the CM’s residence” and that her party is “happy to work from the streets and serve Delhiites.”

However, BJP leader Vijender Gupta, the Leader of Opposition in the Delhi Assembly, dismissed Atishi’s claims as “drama” and “playing the victim card.” He alleged that Atishi had access to a recently renovated office in the Delhi Secretariat and questioned the necessity of occupying the Civil Lines bungalow, referring to it as the “Sheesh Mahal.”

The PWD has cited multiple factors in deciding the bungalow’s future allocation, including the ongoing CBI investigation into the renovation costs, the lack of official designation as the CM’s residence, and Atishi’s current occupancy of the Mathura Road house, which is owned by the central government.

The PWD has also highlighted the vigilance cases concerning the construction of the bungalow, prompting a detailed inventory before any new allocation.

Meanwhile, the AAP has accused the Delhi L-G of forcibly removing Atishi’s belongings from the Civil Lines bungalow at the BJP’s behest. The party has also questioned the PWD’s inventory process for Raj Niwas before the L-G moved in.

The political drama continues with both the Delhi BJP and Congress raising concerns about the AAP’s haste in shifting into the bungalow. The final decision on the bungalow’s allocation rests with the PWD’s Director of Allotment.
