Dehradun, October 10: Seeking to ensure peaceful celebrations during the ongoing Navratri Puja and Ramlila in the district, committees organizing the events have submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate, demanding the closure of liquor shops from October 10th to 12th.
Led by Kanchan Sah, President of the Ramlila Committee, and Dalip Singh Khetwal, President of the Senior Citizen Trust, the committees highlighted the potential for disruption by unruly elements under the influence of alcohol, which could jeopardize the religious sentiments of devotees. They stated that the Ashtami and Navami would see Ganga Aarti and grand feasts, while Dussehra would feature processions throughout the city.
The committees emphasized the need to prevent alcohol-related disturbances and appealed to the District Magistrate to enforce a complete shutdown of liquor stores in the district for three days. Other attendees of the memorandum submission included Inder Singh Parihar, Umesh Singh, Harish Soni, Neeraj Pandey, Vinita, and Baladatt Tiwari.
