A harrowing incident unfolded on Friday when an Air India flight en route from Tiruchirappalli (Trichy) to Sharjah experienced a hydraulic failure mid-air. The aircraft, carrying 140 passengers, was forced to make an emergency landing back at Trichy airport.
The pilot declared a Mayday, indicating a serious emergency, and initiated procedures to safely land the plane. To ensure a smooth landing, the aircraft circled in the airspace to burn off excess fuel.
As a precautionary measure, over 20 ambulances and fire tenders were stationed at the airport, standing ready in case of any emergency.
Thankfully, no casualties have been reported, and the aircraft landed safely at Trichy airport. The incident has prompted an investigation into the cause of the hydraulic failure.
