**Hyderabad:** Mohammad Siraj, the star Indian pacer and a native of Hyderabad, has been appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Telangana. Telangana DGP Jitender handed over the appointment letter to Siraj, who was accompanied by Rajya Sabha member Anil Kumar Yadav.
Siraj, who was part of the T20 World Cup 2024 winning squad, was earlier offered a Group-1 job by Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. Along with the DSP position, Siraj has also been allotted a 600 square yard plot in Jubilee Hills, Road number 78. Siraj expressed his gratitude to the Telangana government for the job and the land allotment.
The 30-year-old Siraj made his international debut in 2017 and has become an all-format player for Team India. He was instrumental in India’s victory in the Asia Cup and the recent T20 World Cup 2024. Notably, Siraj had a remarkable performance in Australia even after receiving news of his father’s demise.
Siraj has played 28 Tests, 44 ODIs, and 16 T20s for India, taking 161 wickets. He stands out from other bowlers by being proficient in all formats of the game. His talent was recognized through the IPL, where he plays for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Siraj has played 93 IPL matches and taken 93 wickets.
