Fri Oct 11 11:11:42 UTC 2024: ## Former Madhya Pradesh Minister Raja Pateria Acquitted in PM Modi Remarks Case

**Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh:** Former Madhya Pradesh Minister and senior Congress leader Raja Pateria has been acquitted by the MP-MLA court in a case related to his alleged offensive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The court ruled that the police failed to properly investigate the video evidence presented in the case, rendering it unreliable. The video, which went viral in December 2022, showed Pateria allegedly urging people to prepare to “kill” Modi to save democracy. This sparked several FIRs against him across the state.

Pateria was arrested in December 2022 and spent two months and 18 days in jail. However, the court observed that no eyewitness testimony directly corroborated the claims that Pateria made the controversial statement on December 11, 2022.

Special Judge Dhirendra Singh Parihar also noted that the police had not conducted any expert examination of the video to verify its authenticity, including checks for editing or tampering.

Pateria’s lawyer argued that the video could have been fabricated using AI tools, a point accepted by the court, leading to the acquittal.
