Wed Oct 09 07:09:23 UTC 2024: ## Veteran Malayalam Actor T P Madhavan Passes Away at 88

**Kollam, Kerala:** Renowned Malayalam actor T P Madhavan passed away on Wednesday at the age of 88. He was admitted to a private hospital in Kollam a few days prior in critical condition and was later placed on a ventilator after his condition worsened.

Madhavan, born in Thiruvananthapuram, began his career with a degree in Sociology before venturing into journalism and advertising. His true passion, however, lay in acting, and he debuted in 1975 with Hariharan’s “Love Marriage.” Over a prolific career, he appeared in over 600 films, earning acclaim for his roles in classics like “Nadodikkattu,” “Thalayanamanthram,” “Sandesam,” “Pappayude Swantham Appoos,” “Vietnam Colony,” “Aaraam Thampuran,” “Chandralekha,” “Ayal Kadha Ezhuthukayanu,” “Narasimham,” “Yathrakarude Sradhakku,” “Udayananu Tharam,” and “Happy Husbands.” His final film appearance was in the 2016 film “Malgudi Days.”

Madhavan, the first General Secretary of the Association of Malayalam Movie Artists (AMMA), also graced television screens later in his career. Following a brain surgery and a stroke during a pilgrimage to Haridwar in 2015, he faced memory loss. These health challenges, coupled with personal difficulties, led him to reside at Gandhi Bhavan, a charitable home in Pathanapuram, where he spent his final years.

Madhavan is survived by his children, Devika and Raja Krishna Menon, the latter a well-known Bollywood director known for directing the Akshay Kumar-starring “Airlift.”

The Malayalam film industry mourns the loss of a legendary actor who left an indelible mark on the hearts of audiences for generations.
