Wed Oct 09 07:50:36 UTC 2024: ## Pakistani Duo Shatters 18-Year-Old Record in Multan Test

**Multan, Pakistan:** Pakistan’s opening batsmen Abdullah Shafique and captain Shan Masood set a new record for the highest partnership in the Multan Cricket Stadium during the first Test match against England on Friday. The duo amassed a mammoth 253 runs for the second wicket, surpassing the previous record of 200 runs held by Brian Lara and Dwayne Bravo since 2006.

Shafique scored a brilliant century (102) before being dismissed, while Masood went on to register a magnificent 151 runs. This partnership not only shattered the previous record at Multan but also placed them second on the list of highest partnerships for any wicket at the venue.

While the Pakistani duo has climbed to the second spot, the top spot is still held by Indian legends Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag, who achieved an unprecedented 336-run partnership for the third wicket in 2004.

The record-breaking partnership played a significant role in Pakistan’s strong start to the Test match, as they ended the first day on a commanding 328 runs for the loss of 4 wickets.

The performance will undoubtedly boost Pakistan’s confidence as they look to secure a winning start in the three-match Test series against England.
