**Chandigarh, India** – The BJP’s ambitious claim of self-reliance appears to have been short-lived, as the party has once again turned to the RSS for support in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections. Following a dismal performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where the BJP lost nearly half of its booths in the state, the saffron party recognized the need for the RSS’s organizational strength.
The RSS, recognizing the BJP’s vulnerability, has stepped in to take a significant role in the Haryana elections. Reports suggest the RSS leaders have criticized the BJP’s performance, pointing out a lack of worker motivation and a failure to address anti-incumbency concerns. The RSS has also called for greater coordination between the two organizations, advocating for a united front at the booth level.
As part of this newfound partnership, the RSS has taken a leading role in candidate selection, with more than half of the incumbent MLAs, including several ministers, being denied tickets. The RSS has also ensured its own cadres receive party nominations.
To ensure a smooth campaign, the RSS has deployed 150 volunteers across Haryana, working alongside party workers at the panchayat level to connect with voters.
Despite these measures, the BJP faces an uphill battle in Haryana. The party’s vote share has been steadily declining in recent elections, indicating voter dissatisfaction. The RSS’s involvement, while significant, may not be enough to counter the challenges posed by the anti-incumbency factor and the opposition’s growing appeal.
The results of the Haryana Assembly elections will reveal whether the RSS’s influence can propel the BJP back to power or if voters have opted for a change in leadership.
