Tue Oct 08 22:02:38 UTC 2024: ## INLD Makes Comeback in Haryana Assembly Elections, JJP Loses Ground

**Chandigarh, October 8, 2024:** The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has made a significant comeback in the recently concluded Haryana Assembly elections, increasing its seat tally and vote share after a disappointing performance in 2019.

Led by Abhay Chautala, the INLD secured two seats in the election, up from a single seat in 2019. Their vote share also saw a substantial increase, jumping from 2.44% to 4.16%. The INLD contested the election in alliance with the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), which did not win any seats.

Aditya Devilal won the Dabwali constituency for the INLD, reclaiming a seat that had been a stronghold for the party for two decades. The party also secured victory in Rania, a seat won by the INLD in 2009 and 2014 but lost in 2019.

In a significant shift, the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP), led by Dushyant Chautala, which had split from the INLD before the 2019 election, failed to win a single seat in the current elections. Their vote share plummeted from 14.8% to 0.9%, leaving Dushyant Chautala in fifth place.

Analysts believe that the INLD was able to win back some of its traditional vote bank, which had shifted towards the JJP in 2019. The JJP’s alliance with the BJP in 2019 seems to have significantly impacted their performance this time around.
