**Ambala Cantt, Haryana:** BJP stalwart Anil Vij has secured his seventh victory from the Ambala Cantt Assembly seat, defeating independent candidate Chitra Sarwara by a comfortable margin of 7,277 votes. Vij, a prominent figure in Haryana politics and a six-time MLA from the same constituency, faced a tough challenge from Sarwara, who initially led by over 1,000 votes in the early trends.

Vij, known for his strong political presence and his work in key portfolios like health and medical education, ultimately emerged victorious, reiterating his strong foothold in the region. He attributed his win to the BJP’s popularity and expressed confidence in the party’s return to power in Haryana with a clear majority.

Congress candidate Parvinder Pal Pari secured a distant third place with 14,469 votes. Despite the strong challenge from Sarwara, Vij maintained a steady lead throughout the day, eventually securing a comfortable victory.

While the ‘None of the Above’ (NOTA) option saw higher usage in Jammu and Kashmir compared to Haryana, it remains a minority choice in Indian elections overall.
