Tue Oct 08 19:51:30 UTC 2024: ## Australia Dominates New Zealand in T20 World Cup, Securing Unbeaten Record

**Sharjah, UAE:** Australia continued their dominant run in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, securing a resounding 60-run victory over New Zealand. This win makes Australia the only unbeaten team in Group A.

The defending champions set a challenging target of 148/8, with Alyssa Healy leading the charge. Healy reached a personal milestone, surpassing 3,000 T20I career runs. Ellyse Perry also contributed significantly, surpassing 2,000 T20I runs, before falling for a crucial 30. Amelia Kerr, New Zealand’s star bowler, snagged four wickets, including a hat-trick attempt.

In response, New Zealand’s chase faltered from the start. Megan Schutt, Australia’s spearhead, took an impressive 3/3 in a devastating spell, including the wicket of Kerr. The wicket-taking didn’t end there; Schutt also achieved the milestone of becoming the most successful bowler in ICC Women’s T20 World Cups with a total of 44 wickets.

Annabel Sutherland provided strong support with 3/21, and Sophie Molineux also chipped in with a crucial wicket. New Zealand were bowled out for a paltry 88 in 19.2 overs, succumbing to the pressure of a required run rate that continuously climbed.

The victory highlights Australia’s strong team performance and individual brilliance. This win propels Australia forward in the race for a semi-final spot, while New Zealand faces a tougher climb to secure their place in the knockout stages.
