Wed Oct 09 01:15:49 UTC 2024: ## Indian Railways Introduces 5 Food Options for Train Passengers
**New Delhi:** In a bid to cater to diverse dietary needs, the Indian Railways has introduced five food options for train passengers. This new initiative allows travelers to choose from a wider range of cuisines, including options for those with specific dietary restrictions.
Previously, passengers were limited to two options: vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Now, they can choose from **Navratri Special Thali**, **Jain Food**, **Vegetarian Food**, **Falahar** (light and simple food for fasting) and **Garlic & Onion-free food** for those with dietary preferences.
This expanded menu is a welcome change, especially for those observing Navratri, where certain foods are avoided. The new options will also benefit diabetic passengers or those who require specific dietary restrictions.
The service is currently available on several premium trains, including Vande Bharat, Tejas, Duronto, and Shatabdi Express. Passengers can avail this service by booking their meal online through the IRCTC e-catering platform.
This move by the Indian Railways aims to enhance passenger convenience and provide a more personalized travel experience. The introduction of diverse food options caters to a broader spectrum of travelers, making train journeys more comfortable and enjoyable.
