**Julana, Haryana:** Former Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has secured a historic victory in the Julana constituency of Haryana, winning by a margin of over 6,000 votes. This marks a significant win for the Congress party, which hadn’t won the seat since 2005.
Phogat, who joined the Congress party last month alongside fellow Olympian Bajrang Punia, campaigned on a platform of fighting for service and justice. She contested against former Army captain and BJP candidate Yogesh Bairagi, as well as incumbent MLA Amarjeet Dhanda of the Jannayak Janta Party (JJP).
The win comes as the BJP, the ruling party, secured a majority in the Haryana Assembly, crossing the 45-seat mark. However, some prominent BJP leaders, including Anil Vij and Abhay Singh Chautala of the INLD, faced setbacks.
