**Julana, Haryana:** Renowned wrestler Vinesh Phogat has won the Julana assembly constituency in the recent Haryana assembly elections, securing a victory for the Congress party. Phogat, who contested as the Congress candidate, defeated her nearest rival Yogesh Kumar by a margin of 6,015 votes.
Phogat garnered 65,080 votes, while her opponent secured 59,065 votes. Reacting to her victory, Phogat declared, “This is a win for every girl in the country who chooses the path of struggle. The struggle of women is not in vain. Truth has prevailed. I will always uphold the love this country has given me.”
She expressed confidence in the Congress party’s ability to form the government in Haryana, despite the results not being fully clear yet.
The win has triggered diverse reactions from political circles. Former WFI president and BJP leader Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who has been embroiled in controversy with Phogat, claimed, “If she wins using our name, it means we are great people. My name has that power. By winning on my name, she has crossed the boat. But the Congress party has sunk.”
Meanwhile, Bajrang Punia, another prominent wrestler, congratulated Phogat, stating, “Congratulations to the daughter of India, Vinesh Phogat. This battle was not just for the Julana seat, not just between parties. This fight was against the strong oppressive forces in the country. Vinesh has emerged victorious in this.”
