**Mumbai, India:** Vedanta Ltd. announced record-breaking aluminium production for the first half and second quarter of the current financial year (FY25). The company attributed this achievement to operational efficiencies, resulting in a 3% increase in aluminium production during H1 FY25, reaching 1,205 kilotonnes (kt).

The company also reported a record half-year alumina production of 1,039 kt, showcasing a 21% year-on-year growth. In Q2 FY25, aluminium production reached 609 kt, marking a 3% increase compared to the previous year.

Vedanta also achieved new highs in zinc production, with mined metal production increasing in the first half of the year due to higher ore treatment and improved mined metal grades. Refined metal production experienced a 5% year-on-year increase to 524 kt, driven by a 4% rise in refined zinc and a 7% increase in refined lead.

However, the company faced challenges in other sectors. Oil & gas production declined by 22% to 104.9 kboepd (barrels of oil equivalent per day) in Q2. Steel production was impacted by a planned shutdown for debottlenecking and maintenance activities.

While copper production saw a 16% increase in Q2 FY25, wind power generation suffered a 15% decline due to adverse weather conditions. Despite this, power sales recorded a 7% growth in Q2 and a 10% increase in H1.

In a separate report, McAfee highlighted the growing risk of cybercrime targeting Indian celebrities. Popular actors like Orry and Diljit Dosanjh are at risk of their names being used by cybercriminals to create fraudulent websites and scams. The report also emphasizes the increasing use of AI and deepfakes in cybercrime, with celebrities like Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh falling victim to this trend.
