Mon Oct 07 15:10:00 UTC 2024: ## St. John’s Christian Football Wins Thriller, Reichley Nears 1,000 Yards

**Dillon, SC** – The St. John’s Christian Cavaliers football team roared back from a halftime deficit to secure a thrilling 28-27 victory over Dillon Christian on Friday night. The win, their first in region play, snapped a two-game losing streak and earned the team a celebratory trip to Buc-ees, a promise made by head coach Shaun Welch.

Junior running back Dor Reichley led the offensive charge, racking up 209 yards rushing and four touchdowns, including an 89-yard scamper in the third quarter. Reichley is now just 81 yards shy of reaching the 1,000-yard mark for the season.

“He’s very explosive,” said Welch, praising Reichley’s speed and potential. “He’s just starting to see his full potential as a junior running back.”

The Cavaliers faced a 21-7 halftime deficit but rallied in the second half, with senior receiver Thomas Hester contributing 101 yards through the air and a key 35-yard reception on a double pass. Defensively, Sumter Moorer and Landen Chipman led the way with eight tackles each, while Xander Artagame and Caleb Ware also made significant contributions.

“The win boosted morale big-time,” said Welch. “We’re coming into homecoming week with momentum. It was our first region win. That’s special.”

The Cavaliers host Christian Academy on Friday, Oct. 11 for homecoming before hosting Hilton Head Prep on Oct. 18. They’ll then face Bethesda Academy on Nov. 1 in their regular season finale.
