Mon Oct 07 18:10:00 UTC 2024: ## Lady Gaga’s Impromptu Kiss Cut from “Joker: Folie a Deux”

**LOS ANGELES** – A viral moment featuring Lady Gaga kissing a female extra on the set of “Joker: Folie a Deux” was ultimately cut from the film, director Todd Phillips revealed to Entertainment Weekly. The impromptu kiss, which took place while Gaga was filming a scene walking up courthouse steps, was an improvised act by the singer-actress.

“It had dialogue in it, and, all of a sudden, I wanted it to be more of a music and vibe moment,” Phillips explained. “For that moment to have played, it needed dialogue behind it. Meaning, the woman said something, and then Gaga stopped and did this thing, and it just kind of got in the way of the moment.”

Gaga, who plays the character of Lee in the musical sequel, is known for her on-set improvisation. The kiss, which was widely shared on social media, was seen as a potential indicator of a romantic subplot between Gaga and the character of Harley Quinn, played by Zazie Beetz. However, Phillips’ comments suggest that the scene was ultimately edited out for stylistic reasons.

“Joker: Folie a Deux,” which stars Joaquin Phoenix reprising his role as the titular character, is set for release later this year.
