Tue Oct 08 13:10:55 UTC 2024: ## BJP Leads in Haryana Assembly Election: Congress Still Holds 35 Seats

**New Delhi:** The BJP is currently leading in the Haryana Assembly elections with 50 seats, according to the Election Commission website. However, the Congress is trailing closely behind with 35 seats. The picture is still unclear as there are seven seats where the Congress is behind by a very narrow margin.

The Congress may still gain ground in the upcoming rounds of counting as their candidates could still gain votes in these close races. If they do, the results may change significantly.

The BJP has crossed the majority mark with 50 seats, surpassing the previous record of 46. The Independent candidates are ahead in four seats, while the INLD and BSP hold one seat each.

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) are yet to gain any leads.

Prominent independent candidates include Savitri Jindal from Hisar, Rakesh Joon from Bahadurgarh, Chitra Sarwara from Ambala Cantt, and Devender Kadian from Gannaur.

The Congress has refused to acknowledge the results, claiming that the race is not over yet.
