Tue Oct 08 02:33:17 UTC 2024: ## Tight Security for EVMs in Bhiwani as Counting for Haryana Assembly Elections Begins on October 8th

**Bhiwani, October 6th, 2024:** The Haryana Assembly elections have concluded, and the state eagerly awaits the counting of votes on October 8th. With exit polls suggesting a possible Congress majority, all eyes are fixed on the strongroom where Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) are securely stored.

In Bhiwani, the strongroom is located at the Haryana School Education Board and boasts three layers of security under the watchful eyes of the SSB, IRB, and local police. The EVMs from all four constituencies in Bhiwani district – Bhiwani, Tosham, Loharu, and Bawani Khera – have been transferred to the strongroom under strict security protocols.

Bhiwani’s Returning Officer and SDM, Mahesh Kumar, confirmed that the strongroom is under constant CCTV surveillance. He assured the public that the EVMs will only be accessed by Returning Officers, candidates, and observers on the day of the count.

The district witnessed a 69.8% voter turnout. While the counting process is expected to be peaceful, strict security measures have been implemented at all counting centers. Only authorized personnel, including candidates, counting agents, observers, and counting officials, will be permitted inside. The public will be updated on the counting progress through loudspeakers placed outside the centers.

To further ensure security, barricades have been erected around the EVMs, allowing authorized personnel to monitor the counting process without compromising the integrity of the machines.

The people of Bhiwani are brimming with anticipation as they await the announcement of the results on October 8th, which will determine the future of the state.
