**Gurgaon, Haryana:** The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has secured a resounding victory in the Gurgaon Assembly seat, with its candidate Mukesh Sharma defeating Independent candidate Naveen Goyal by a margin of over 68,000 votes. This marks the third consecutive win for the BJP in the constituency, previously considered a stronghold of the Congress.
Sharma garnered a total of 1,22,615 votes, while Goyal secured 54,570 votes. Congress candidate Mohit Grover came in third with 46,0947 votes. Other candidates in the fray included representatives from the AAP, JJP, INLD, and various independents.
The election saw a voter turnout of 51.81%, which was lower than the state average.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, junior doctors at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata are on a ‘fast-unto-death’ demanding justice for a colleague who was raped and murdered. Over 50 senior doctors have resigned in solidarity, highlighting the unsafe and corrupt environment within the healthcare system. They are calling for systemic changes, including a centralised referral system and increased police protection.
